Get Creative with Your Coasters
This week we are excited to feature our coasters, one of the newest products available for digital customization through Heritage Makers. Coasters can, of course, be used in the traditional way, but we wanted to think outside the box for ideas to use this versatile product as gifts and home decor.

I’m sure most of us have played Scrabble at least once, but even if you aren’t a fan of word games, you have to admit the tiles add a charming, playful touch to crafts. The image above shows coasters that were designed like Scrabble tiles that can be arranged to form a fun word grid for a wall. The words “family,” “home,” and “love” use twelve tiles, or just three sets of coaster projects. You could also place family names in a grid or create an alphabet set to help a child get familiar with their letters.
Below we have our next project, Chalkboard Wedding (search template #137098), which is a beautiful way to preserve and showcase wedding memorabilia. All we used to create this was 1.5″ wide black ruffle-edged ribbon, a large book ring, and a hot glue gun to adhere the coasters to the ribbon. All of these supplies can be found in your local craft store, and once you have your coasters, this adorable decoration only takes a few minutes to assemble.

This festive Noel tile decor below is very similar to the wedding one; it just requires a few extra steps. Here we used black grosgrain ribbon for the base and the bow at the top. What sets this project apart is that we made it hybrid, using both digital art and traditional paper. The coasters were designed with art from a variety of digital collections, and the traditional paper comes from the Our Memories for Life Christmas Joy and Joyous Noel collections, both by Katie Pertiet. We printed out the letters to adhere on top of the digital image to help give the project some added depth. The additional paper pieces shown are the “Merry & Bright” banner, snowflake, wreath, reindeer, and tree. All were adhered using the new Our Memories for Life Foam Mounting Squares, and the snowflake was created with our Snowflake Kiss Pocket Paper Punch.

*Tip: If you want to use art from a traditional collection like Christmas Joy that is no longer available to purchase, remember that all the Our Memories for Life collections are added to the Heritage Makers digital art catalog. To create a hybrid project like this one, you can simply order a scrap page with the older art you want to use and you’ll be all set!
The image below shows our final project for today. Each coaster is the same, and the idea here is that a coaster can be a simple, elegant gift to give to a friend any time of year. This project features a beautiful Maya Angelou quote that anyone would appreciate.
